Kenya Education Network (KENET) (http://www.kenet.or.ke) is a not-for-profit membership organization. The members include universities, tertiary colleges, research institutes, teaching hospitals and other affiliated institutions. It is incorporated as a Trust and licensed by Communications Authority of Kenya as a Tier-2 Network Facilities Operator.

KENET provides broadband Internet connectivity services and cloud-based digital enterprise and academic services to member institutions. It also provides specialized research and education services such as trust and identity services, eduroam, and research cloud services and academic CERT services.

KENET’s strategic priorities in the period 2022-2026 include to dramatically increasing the number of connected member tertiary colleges, schools and teaching hospitals; supporting the digital transformation strategies of member institutions; and promoting the adoption of open science practices.

KENET therefore seeks to fill the following positions:

1. Chief Business Development Officer – (1 position) Job Reference No. 1002201

This position reports to the Executive Director and will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities for KENET to support its member institutions and driving growth of uptake of KENET’s ICT services and solutions portfolio to new and existing customers.

Suitable candidate will proactively engage with KENET member institutions to identify their needs, specify them, and work with a team of communications and technical staff to deliver innovative solutions to better align KENET services with client needs.

2. Senior Accountant – (1 position) Job Reference No. 1002202

This position reports to the Chief Accountant and will be expected to provide technical leadership in all financial accounting matters for KENET in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with the International Accounting Standards and enforcing adequate internal controls within the organization.

Suitable candidate will lead financial accounting, taxation and statutory compliance operations. The ideal candidate shall have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, CPA (K) or ACCA with at least five years’ work experience in a busy accounting office or in audit, two of which should be at senior level in a medium-sized or large organization.

3. Cloud Solutions Architect – (2 positions) Job Reference No. 1002203

This position reports to the Enterprise ICT Solution Lead and will be responsible for analyzing member institutions academic and administrative cloud computing requirements and proposing appropriate technical cloud solutions.

The solutions shall be based on private, community, and public cloud infrastructures.

The ideal candidate shall have an electrical engineering, computer science or information systems or related degree from a recognized university.

4. Assistant Network Engineer – (2 positions) Job Reference No. 1002204

This position reports to the Lead Network Development Engineer and will join a team responsible for network development of the backbone and last mile infrastructure of KENET as well as providing campus network development advisory services.

The ideal candidate shall have an electrical engineering degree from a recognized university and be registered or registrable as a professional engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

5. Graduate Trainee in Network and Infrastructure Engineering – (2positions) Job Reference No. 2002201

Applicants must have graduated less than two years from the date of this advert from recognized universities in areas of Electrical Engineering or equivalent with specialization in telecommunication networks or power systems or mechatronics.
